Nalgene Goes BPA-Free!

I am a traveler. There was a time when no self-respecting backpacker would be caught without a Nalgene bottle dangling from a carabiner on the side of his or her pack.
If you were REALLY hip, you used the same Nalgene bottle ALL THE TIME and personalized it with stickers that referenced obscure places, bands, or eco-clubs.
When the news about the possibly harmful side effects of BPA in plastic food containers came out, I didn't want to take any risks with my health, so I tossed all of my BPA plastics, including offending sippy cups, baby bottles, and my beloved sports bottles.

I was so excited to learn that Nalgene has a line of BPA-free bottles! I am proud to say that we have a set for the whole family!

Nalgene bottles are made in the USA, are indestructible, and are taste & odor free, so you can enjoy your drinks without that yucky tainted plastic smell.

The BPA-free bottles include:

The 32-oz "everyday" bottle, that my husband drinks coffee out of (kind of weird, I know...).
The Everyday retails for $11.50.

The OTG has a handy flip-top lid and holds 24 ounces of BPA-free hydration! The Nalgene OTG retails for $11.99.

My FAVORITE new BPA-free offering from Nalgene are these adorable Grip-N-Gulp bottles! It is the convenience and spill-proof qualities of a sippy cup, but the Grip-N-Gulp looks a lot more "grown up" than a standard sippy.

Both of my boys love using the Grip-N-Gulp. When we first got it, I removed the valve because it was almost too difficult to drink through. Even without the valve, there is very little leakage. At $9.25, I think the Grip-N-Gulp is a great value for a BPA-free kid's cup!

The first day I took the Grip-n-Gulp out on the town with us to run some errands, I left it in on the counter of the grocery store while I was checking out!

Luckily a friend of mine had seen me in the grocery store and realized what had happened when they saw my abandoned bottle. I was glad to be reunited with our Grip-N-Gulp! I was so afraid my son would be devastated if it was lost!

Nalgene is giving away a set of all 3 BPA-Free bottles mentioned in this post (ARV 32.75)!

To enter, tell me another product you would like to have from Nalgene!

For a second entry, leave another comment telling me how you would use your 3 BPA-Free Nalgene bottles.

One winner will be chosen at random.

This giveaway will close on November 1, 12 midnight CST!

I want a bpa free hydration system. is the Encapsul Big Bore, 2L safe?

Oh, how I could really use this giveaway!!! Thanks so much! For another product, how about tupperware-like food containers?

Smellyann said...

My kids are at the end of the sippy stage, so I think those Nalgene bottles would be a great transformation for them. As for the rest, my husband and I are constantly drinking water on the go, so they would come in really handy. Thanks!

PsychMamma said...

My favorites are all the ones you're giving away, but I also love the idea of the "kit bottles" like the first aid kit and the kid's kit. Brilliant! Would make a great gift at Christmas time. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

PsychMamma said...

Here's how I would use them:

The big one would e for my hubby, who never drinks enough water, in the hope that it would prompt him to do better. I would love the OTG, because I always AM OTG! Ha! It looks fabulous and would be great to fit in my car cupholder or to slip in a diaper bag. Jenna is getting past the sippy cup stage, but I still love the idea of being mess-free. I like that the Grip-n-go looks a little more grown up, is BPA free, but still limits mess.

Thanks again!

Oh, wow! I really, really could use the Grip-N-Gulp with Jasper. Especially since I really, really need him to start drinking from something other than me since he has razor-sharp teeth. I like the Camelbak Bite bottles but the half liter is still a bit awkward for Jasper to hold. And I need something to contain spills since he can get liquid to leak out of ANY container.

Bob would probably snag the 32 oz bottle to drink from in the studio and I would use the OTG to try and boost my water intake and keep off the Diet Coke.

I also dig the flask (!) and Kit Bottles, too.

I would love to have several sizes of the straight sided jars for storage-a perfect way to store food/dry goods and not worry about BPA. Thanks for having the giveaway!

Oh, I've been wanting a Nalgene bottle for regular drinking (like the "everyday" bottle but been too chicken to pay for it. :)

I drink a crazy amount of water, so having it in a 32oz bottle would be great for keeping track of my water!

Anonymous said...

If I won, my husband & I'd each use one of the regular bottles. The sippycup I would either pass on to my pregnant SIL or keep in the house for when we have kiddos visiting.

Jen lleras said...

I would most like the OTG, I have been trying to get away from reusing my plastic bottles and it's so easy to just refill them, but I keep hearing how bad it is to reuse them!

My hubby recently bought a 32oz Nalgene bottle to take to work everyday and I am quite jealous. I love how they wash, hold a great amount of fluid and are BPA free!

Thanks for the fabulous giveaway :)

After looking at the website I'm considering buying the 32oz Kit Bottle - for Dogs. Every time I go hiking I have a friend who allows their dog to share the nalgene... yuck.

orneryswife said...

I would love the 32 oz. bottle. We have about 25 Nalgenes (I know, why? I asked him the same thing) and we drink out of them EVERY DAY all day. So, even though they are the old style, and I am worried about the BPA's, I haven't sprung for new ones. Please pick me!
tm

orneryswife said...

As for what I would use it for? WATER. We used to buy water in the little bottles and drink it all the time. Now we have an RO filter and just pack it with us everywhere. We even take our Nalgene's into restaurants with us instead of using eco-unfriendly paper or styro cups.

I would keep the sippy cups for all 5 of my nephews to share while in my car.. hopefully avoiding even more spills!! and give one of the bigger ones to a friend who brings a new bottle of water to work everyday- maybe she'll get the hint!

Thanks!

I love my 32 oz Nalgene bottle. I used to use normal water bottles and keep refilling them until they smelled nasty. Now I just use the one Nalgene and stick it in the dishwasher every now and then.

The one thing I'd like to see is a holder for it that I can use to clip onto the shoulder strap of my bags. I know they make one, but I haven't seen it in stores at all.

Alyce said...

We would share the bottles within the family. My husband would probably get the most use out of them though, since he is the athlete in the family.

I would use the big bottle for my husband. He plays tennis on Saturdays and more during the summer. I threw out our old plastic water bottles and found some rubbermaid bottles that are supposed to be ok plastic. But they just aren't the same. I had a red Nalgene bottle for work that I really liked. Anyway, I would get the other big bottle (I don't remember what they are called), because I don't drink enough water during the day now that I stay at home and am busy entertaining my 1 1/2 year old daughter. : ) And the little bottle would go to her because she is using a sippy cup right now, but pretty soon I'd love to have her learn how to drink out of a regular cup. Whew! That was a long comment!

Krista said...

I would totally be saving the Everyday bottle for myself. My son would love the Grip n Gulp and that leaves hubby with the third one! He's already lost one water bottle so hopefully this would stand out enough for him to keep it!

My family went hiking once...and we ran out of water (we didn't anticipate it would take that long and that the trail would be so difficult). lol On the way, we met a kind family with a hydration pack...they were generous enough to give us some of their water bottles, and make do with their own hydration pack! What a useful tool. : )

These bottles have been on my wish list for awhile now but I havent had the chance to pick one up!

I LOVE the cute pink EVERDAY bottle from their store!

I would use the nalgene bottle to replace all those nasty disposable water bottles I drink out of every day! I am a water hound and this water bottle would support my habits in a healther and more environmentally friendly way!

I like the pink wide mouth bottle.

I would use the bottles for when we drive in the car. I often get thirsty and end up spending $1.50 on a soda at the drive through to keep me satisfied while I run errands.

I am sooooo excited to hear that they have BPA free bottles!!!

What I'd really like to see them carry is big bottles (1-3 gallon range) for camping!

You had me at the words "BPA-free". With such scares, products like Nalgene's are top-priority buys.

I really liked their 16oz WM Pink - BPA Free everyday bottle.

Thanks for this great giveaway!
