Eco Filter Giveaway

If 25% of Los Angeles residents make 1 pot of coffee in the morning using a paper filter, (one used filter measures 5cu. Inches) this amounts to 81,159 cu. Ft. of trash per day. (approximately 10,000 sq. ft. in area, the size of two McDonald's buildings).

Going Green is about making small changes to lessen my impact on the planet. Something small and easy to change is the way I filter my coffee.

ECO FILTER is a gourmet coffee filter made form tightly-woven, unbleached cotton.
It can be used in the place of a paper coffee filter and needs only to be rinsed in between uses. However if you feel the need, ECO FILTER can be washed in the dish washer. ECO FILTER comes in a pack of two, so it is easy to rotate when one is being washed and dried.

ECO FILTER comes in a variety of sizes to fit most any coffee maker.

Eco Filter allows the diterpenes (found in the oil droplets) and coffee sediment to be filtered out. A Dutch study, cited in the UC Berkeley Wellness Letter March 1997, stated that if people trying to lower their blood cholesterol should not drink unfiltered European style coffee, such as that made in a French press.

So, if you would like to make great tasting, healthy, earth-friendly coffee, you should try an Eco Filter!

ECO FILTER is giving away a set of 2 Eco Filters in your choice of size to one lucky My Greening reader.
To enter, visit the Eco Filter website and comment here telling me something you like about Eco Filter.
Make sure I have a way to contact you if you win!

Contest will close on June 1, 9pm CST. One winner will be chosen by Random Number Generator.

That is cool - but my coffee maker came w/ the "gold" filter that i rinse. You can still buy filters (I have no idea why!) but i don't. I just rinse it - or if I am lazy, I don't and have stronger coffee :-)

I'd love to win! I love coffee and if I can drink my organic coffee and cut down on the waste and help the envrionment, I'm all for it. I love that the company thinks the same thing and that they make such a variety.

I like that it'll keep the yucky sediment from going into your cup. I hate getting to the bottom of my coffee cup and seeing sludge. Gross!
As much as I make coffee, I definitely need a reusable filter. I also like that it'll stand up better than the paper filters. Mine often collapse on one side and all the coffee grounds leak into my cup.

Hello! Thanks for the introduction to a wonderful site. I like the fact that the filter only needs rinsing in between using it! It even can be cleaned in the dishwasher is a big plus.....Thanks,Cindi

I like that they are compact and ultimately biodegradeable. My mom has the gold cone filter but even that someday will end up in a landfill.

I think these would be good Christmas presents for my inlaws!

Jen said...

Argh - I hit return before I added my email. The above comment (about the filters being biodegradeable) was from me, and my email is

Thanks for having this great giveaway. I have been investigating more eco-friendly products and didn't realize that there were better coffee filters. What's even better is they are affordable and near the regular filter's price.

I would love to use one package at home and one at work. This way more people could become aware that these are available.

This is such a great idea - I never knew reusable filters existed! I don't drink coffee, but my mom does and I know she would love them so I'll enter for her.

I think the best thing about the Eco Filters is that they are reusable...not only does that save the environment, but it's cheaper!

Another great find!! Good job! I would love to win the filters. We make coffee daily and it is annoying to throw away the filters every day. I love that you just rinse them out (don't have to put it in the dishwasher) and I love that it would cut down on waste.
